Contrary to
popular opinion,
"one size fits
all" is not a
good rule of
thumb when
purchasing floor
care equipment.
The design
styles
required to
effectively
clean hard floor
surfaces vs.
carpeted areas
are extremely
different.
Let's start with
the upright
design. Upright
machines, even
those with the
ability to shut
off the brush
bar, cannot
clean hard floor
surfaces as well
as an attachment
tool designed
for hard floor
application. A
spinning brush
bar (designed to
remove dirt from
carpet pile)
acts as a fan on
a hard floor
surface,
actually blowing
small dust
particulate away
from the
machine.
The upright
machine's
primary design
purpose is
carpet cleaning.
Most of them
do an adequate
job. Adding
hoses,
attachment tools
and brush bar
switches to an
upright does
provide some
convenience, but
if you have ever
pulled an
upright over and
broken something
using a poorly
designed
attachment hose,
you may begin to
understand my
point. Stairs
can also be a
problem with a
higher quality
upright because
of it's weight
and/or
attachment
configuration.
The point is,
there are better
and more
effective
options if you
want a vacuum
cleaner to do
more than clean
a carpet.
The design of
the canister
vacuum does
render itself to
be more
versatile,
cleaning both
hard surfaces
and carpeted
areas very
well. The
canister design
has also proven
to supply more
suction power
than an
upright. The
increased
suction occurs
because an
upright motor's
power is split
between suction and
driving the
brush
bar...canisters
designed for
carpet cleaning
have two motors,
one for suction
and one to drive
the brush bar.
If both machines
(upright vs.
canister) have
12 amp motors,
it stands to
reason the one
dedicating all
it's
power to suction
would be more
powerful.
Personal
preference is
also a
consideration,
but when we
design a system
customized to
your home
configuration, the
positive
feedback is
amazing.
Please don't
misunderstand,
upright design
sales dominate
the US market
today... nearly
3-1. Most
perform as
advertised.
What we offer
is the
opportunity to
share with our
customers the
insight gained
by successfully
repairing every
machine that
comes through
our door. This
represents every
manufacturer,
model, style and
design
imaginable,
including a technical
familiarity
rarely acquired with
all
manufacturers of
floor care
equipment. We
have
listened to
thousands of our customers wants
and needs and
dedicate
ourselves to
serve them.
Your vacuum
cleaner is the
last thing you
think about until
something goes
wrong with it. We
want to be your
"go to" guys when
that need arises.
